Hair Adornment, South India, late 19th Century
*

*
This piece of jewelry adorns the centre of the hair bun tied neatly at the back.
Variants in gold studded with rubies were common in that
period.
The motif on this piece is the multi-headed Shesh Nag or King Cobra,
also possibly signifying the long hair of the woman.
