This piece is an extremely rare find and has an unusual usage.
The ghoonghat or the veil of a woman that covers her entire face is usually slippery and falls off frequently
uncovering her face. This device attaches the edge of the ghoonghat to her hair and acts a s a weight.
The ring end is used to suspend a weight, sometimes in the form of a nosering.
An example of current day usage is shown below.
