Set of Hair Pins, mid 20th century
*

*
Women wore their hair long (it was probably never ever cut in their entire lifetime).
Girls wore it in plaits and women wore thie rhair in buns or judas.
Grooming rituals were extensive and women were expected to meticulously
prepare themselves twice a day to appear fresh, pleasant and attractive.
The jewelry accessories worn by the woman, played a major role during courting.
The long hair often needed pins and clips to hold it neatly in place.
This is a set of pins for the 'juda' or the bun in its more functional and simpler form.
