The Jewels of the Peacock Collection
showcases antique jewelry collected over twenty years
.

The antique silver gallery is currently open.

Other galleries including rare ancient and antique gold pieces will open in 2011.

Below, I have linked a page that provides the 'context' - the women of that era -
who wore these exquisite pieces and lived the spirit of 'shringaar',
best shown through Raja Ravi Varma's paintings.
Spending a few moments on this page is highly recommended.

I am primarily a collector - not a dealer, but am willing to part with a few pieces every year
in order to add other finds to my collection.
If you are interested in acquiring a piece, please write in to enquire
about the 'parting fee' or the price of the article
which depends on -
the current price of the metal,
the age of the piece
and the rarity of the category and the article.

India has always been the largest consumer of gold in the global market.
Gold is purchased as jewelry but in times of hardship it is sold off at the price of the precious metal.
The dealers who buy it, have no use for its form, and have the jewelry melted to extract the gold.
Most antique pieces are lost to history in this way.
This also means that finding antique jewelry pieces,
especially those that belonged to economically susceptible groups such as tribes,
is difficult.
Coming across a unique article with a historic functionality
that society no longer has use for, is a total delight for a collector.
It is in this spirit that I have collected over the years, across my travels.

I do hope you enjoy viewing the collection!
